Gabriola Island Rock Forms Number 23
« on: April 23, 2015, 03:00:18 pm »

The small island I live on has extensive areas of quite remarkable rock formations along the shoreline.  This is one of my favourites, made while the rocks were damp and very rich in colour.

I find rock forms endlessly fascinating, and good for abstract B&W. Our local rock forms aren't generally quite as "evocative" per Maddog. Missouri has largely sedimentary rock at the surface, though there is a several county area with significant igneous rock at the surface, 1.6 billion-with-a-B years old. Some of the local sedimentary rock is called "swiss cheese rock" by residents.
