No new enhancements (features) makes total sense. We've seen that from day one as I wrote.
I don't think that's correct. I can remember one version having a significant new feature added in a dot release.  Must have been back in 3 or 4 because I can't remember the full details now.

You're probably correct, and yes, I recall the same plus nothing stops Adobe from adding new features to a dot release. But providing NO bug fixes, new camera support, new lens profile support as 'suggested' by Kelby doesn't make any sense.

I tend to agree,  Kelby’s statement pretty much reiterates the policy that has been in place and actually frustrated CC users for the past year or more.  Despite 5.x releases to add camera support and fix bugs, new features in ACR were not provided to users of LR on the cloud for “legal” reasons.  So things like editing of graduated filters which have been in ACR for some time now were not available in LR until now.

I see the LR CC release as a way to avoid that going forward.  Now whether Adobe will eventually releases a stand alone LR 7 as features are added to LR CC remains to be seen, but the statement made by Kelby could easily have been made a year or two ago ... nothing new.

This begs a question. My LR5 is perpetual but I also have the full CC subscription. So I think I'll wait till tonight to see if indeed, CC will provide an upgrade.
I also have both, and LR CC was available when I powered up my Mac, now installed and ready to launch.

There was no suggestion of no bug fixes. It said no new features or enhancements. What's a feature? What's an enhancement?

Worse, it is bad marketing speak towards Adobe as witnessed here where folks wonder if the poop will hit the fan. The audience here on LuLa is by and large, pretty savvy. Imagine the Kelby audience believing what he 'suggests' or those on 'that other forum'. In the rush to be first out the door, the signal/benefit to noise/BS ratio is skewed once again.

Your confusion is justified by the piss-poor text you posted from Kelby. Ask him. But don't take it to the bank just yet.

Just for your information, Adobe has also released Camera Raw 9 with Panorama and HDR: https://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2015/04/camera-raw-9-now-available.html

Sounds like a plan but there might be a rub. I did download and install LR6, it updated my catalog. The older catalog is there as well. I (we) need to test if a LR6 catalog is backwards compatible. Otherwise we need two catalogs which makes this somewhat problematic.

Warning - I had a licenced version of  Lightroom 5, I went to download the new Lightroom 6 and it instead put Lightroom (5) CC on my machine so I deleted it and then found they had removed my licenced version 5 from my machine. I'm so pissed off.

I've got both on my machine after the update. LR6 is now within a folder, with an uninstaller as well. The older LR5 app was named "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5" while the folder is named "Adobe Lightroom". I'm not sure if you had identical names and as such, the older version was over written by new?

From where did you download it, everytime I go to download from the adobe webpage (spanish version after login), it just downloads the Adobe Creative Cloud installer...

I downloaded via my CC subscription but I was only able to do so after a restart.

The Kelby video went about like Andrew predicted.  Here's my summary:

The new features look quite good but not exactly earth shattering although the performance improvements with use of the GPU could be.

The video went like this after starting about 15 min late due to tech difficulties:
Blather, Blather, Blather, Ad, Blather, Blather, Blather, Shameless Plug, Blather, Blather, Blather,Show new feature, Blather, Blather, Blather, Bad Joke, Blather, Blather, Blather,

Repeat until you're out of time.

Do you mean compatibility between LR6 and LR "CC"?  I guess it really doesn't matter to me, because I'll probably just run LR6 and not bother with the CC version.
But it's a good question.

He promised something BIG. I guess we can expect some honesty once he's pulled in his audience.
Playing with Face Detection, kind of cool. I'm hoping that as I decide what faces NOT to include, LR will keep them from coming up for inclusion to reject. It missed a number of shots that are obviously not faces. An image with a stop sign in it was funny to see included. Scrolling in Grid does seem a bit zippier.
No dogs are detected and that's a major disappointment but I'm only partially though the catalog.
