Actually, today has been a spring-like day in the Boston area, with rain instead of snow. The snow mountain at the end of my driveway is finally down to about three feet high, from its former 8-foot height.

I wish we could have sent all of our snow this winter to California, where they need it.

My wife and I are heading up there in mid to late June and I'm hoping that things will have warmed up by then. Will black flies be out in droves?

Apologies for the slow reply.  Responsibilities sometimes get in the way of the fun stuff.

Eric - true, no records here this year.  The Maritimes have had it much worse than us.

Johnny - Yes, there will some flies in June but it depends a lot on where you are.  Just be prepared to cover up a bit if you have to.  More concerning ins the weather.  Be prepared for a mixture of nice but cool weather and the RDF (rain, drizzle, fog).  Again it depends where you will be.  Enjoy.

Scott and Paulo - Harsh highlights - agreed.  I was trying to honour what I saw in the sense that the scene itself was kind of harsh (even in rather low, cloud filtered light) and the fact that I am looking forward to a softening of the weather.

maddog - yeah - too much sun!?  I grew up in a very dry climate as opposed to where I live now and even sometimes miss the smell of dust.  The grass in always greener ...
