Hi Esben,

Can you tell me if a mount change (from H to Mamiya/PhaseOne) is covered under the Value Added Warranty on this?

Thanks

The mount change has been used.

I would strongly suggest anyone who's buying a digital back to buy it together with the Hasselblad H system. If you're a pro, you will appreciate the reliability.

I've sold 3 digital backs in the last 3 years on LL and can give references.

The back is in mint 9+ condition.

I also have a Hasselblad H2 camera + viewfinder that I can include for $1350.00.

Why do you suggest that a P1 back with H mount is more reliable than a P1 back in M mount?

I am thinking of upgrading to an 80MP back and I am aware of yours and another in M mount both are IQ180s and similarly priced although the other is cheaper.

Neither is perfect for my systems because, although both backs will fit my Linhof Techno, I think neither will fit my Hasselblad 50x series bodies. Or will your H back fit?

I could ditch the 50x series gear and buy into M or H gear. I don't know which route is better. H is more attractive initially because I could use my present lenses with an adapter (but only in manual focus, I think). I really need to start thinking about auto-focus systems!

I would appreciate your comments on my choices.
Roger

Hi Roger

The back and camera have just been sold, but to answer your questions. The back itself is not more reliable than a back for the Mamiya system, but the Hasselblad H system is (IMHO). The H system has been tested and proven and has been working for more than 10 years. The lenses do not hunt and the focus is right on. There are no connection errors, the firmware just works. That's more than what can be said about any other system out there today.
In regards to the Hasselblad 500 system. The lenses are not as sharp as the Hasselblad H lenses and keep in mind that many of them have been sitting untouched on a shelf for years. The sync timing might be accurate, it might not. Digital backs need a precise sync signal from the lens. In regards to autofocus, the camera can most likely focus quicker and more precise than what you can, but keep in mind that there is only 1 focus point which is located in the center.

Best,
Esben
