Hmm. This is SERIOUSLY interesting. I will get me one of those suckers.

By the way, in the Aperture thread, somebody complained about the number of people spelling it Aperature. I suspect that's a back-formation from apparatus.

Anyway, I'd take that (fairly uncommon) misspelling in exchange for all the people who write "loose" ('not tight') when they mean 'lose' (to misplace, to drop out) as well as people on a photography forum who write 'lense' when they mean 'lens.'

It's weird; almost everybody here is smart. But a large number of us can't spell.

How many people here know the English word with the most consecutive double letters, without googling it?

Most of note to me was the seeming fact that Aperture wants us all to buy new computers and Kong is going to help us NOT have to buy new computers.

Could it be Mississippi?

This should be an interesting week for us Mac users.  I am really glad I held off on Aperture.  Although I was tempted to pre-order based on all the hype, it turns out that for me it would have been a mistake and an expensive one too.

Who knows.  Google might come out with something too.

I think that word is bookkeeper.

And yes, the "lose/loose" thing drives me crazy, too. The misspelling of aperture doesn't bug me nearly so much, probably because it strikes me as being somehow less disruptive when I read it.

The more I see about the new Adobe program, the more I like it. I even like this "beta" business, which strikes me as much classier and more thoughtful than Apple's "$500 and like it" attitude (and I'm a heavy Mac user.)

Bookkeeper is the word, although there are some English people who claim that a "bookkeeper" in some businesses in England denotes the top number-cruncher, and that his underlings are known as subbookkeepers. They may be lying.

I doubt if Google will come up with anything to challenge Aperture.   Picasa does not have what it takes to be an Aperture.  I think the critics of Apeture have been to vocal. First, Aperture is in version 1.0.  How many pieces of software do you know were near the best int he first version?  Very few.  Second, so many people expect Aperture to be like PhotoShop. This reminds me a a friend from NY who was critical of every city he lived in because the city was not like NY.  Aperture isn't meant to be a PhotoShop clone, so don't judge it by how close it is to PhotoShop.

Me?  Well, since I have a Windoze machine I will not be looking at Aperture in the near future. When the time comes to replace my Windows machine, I will consider a Mac, and at that time take a look at how Aperture may fit into my needs.
