Sony RX100 new firmware available.

Sony RX100 new firmware available.

Yes for the oldest model !!!

At last Sony has solved the Steadyshot problem.

I've just downloaded the big file and installed the firmware.

Not as easy as Canon procedure, but not too difficult, just pay attention to remove memory card and choose the good USB function.

It takes about 10 minutes, so you need a full charged battery.

Now the steadyshot appears to be more effective.

Have a Nice Day.

Thanks for that.
Both OS versions available from
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/DSC-RX100

It's really nice to see a supplier like Sony continuing to offer updates on discontinued models.

Not the simplest firmware I've done over the years, but it went OK.

Not sure how much improved the anti-shake is yet, but I like being able to disable the movie button from all modes except movie mode.

An absolute pain to install. Mac version produced error message before even recognising camera (RX100), suggesting removal and replacement of battery and try again, again and again.
Eventually Win version did work after multiple tries.
How can Sony firmware updates be so user-challenging?
Nikon, Phase and even Alpa FPS update so easily

Absolutely no problems here performing the update with Windows. Just follow the instructions and all done in a few minutes.

On Yosemite you first need to download and run DL100_1411.dmg, then update DSCRX100M2V110.dmg.
Works fine.

Thanks, it worked without any drama on mine although the instructions were lengthy I think only half were necessary, the rest were for just in case. Windows 8.

What a kludge - does this actually install a one-use program on the PC adding to registry clutter?  And an update via a PC-camera connection?  I guess the concept of copying the firmware to an SD card is beyond the Sony engineers.  Yuck.
