At first, when looking only at the thumbnails, I found the 2nd better.

But full screen, the patterns of the first are amazing!

Well seen!

Have a Nice Day!

Photo #1 wins for me but both are incredible, could be from a distant planet!

They don't look like Vatnajökull, but I suspect there is some large glacier lurking nearby.
Nice shots, both.

The patterns in the first are spectacular, but both are wonderful.

The patterns of the first one are cool but the second one tells more of the story.

Both very interesting but I lean toward the first because it feels more balanced/complete to me.

Thank you, all.

I should note that the first image is not a b&w conversion.  The sun briefly poked through the clouds and the aircraft turned towards it at just the right moment.

Eric - it is indeed Vatnajökull, and the river is Tungnaá.

I like how the riverbed in #1 seems to come out from the screen. Guess its time to calibrate my monitor's dimensionality...  ;)

I guess a few of the outflow rivulets have changed course slightly since I was there in 1974!   ;D

Wonderful work, Rajan. I like these much more than some of the other work you have shown recently.

Superb, Rajan.  I don't know if I'm more envious of your images or your travels.

Very nice patterns and contrast.  I can't imagine how short your days are at this time of year.

Thank you, all.

I hope the new LuLa design will offer the option of acknowledging respondents without necessarily bumping up the thread.
