Inspired by wmchauncy's recent fit of boredom, I thought I'd start a new thread of "creations," by which I mean images created by combining at least two unrelated images (i.e., not simply by stacking).
To start the ball rolling, I'll post some of my own recent contraptions, and I invite others to add more.

Here are three in (mostly) color. I may have posted the first one sometime in the past.

The pooch was on Vancouver Island, the piano was in a park in New York City, and the stree stump face was in Newton, Massachusetts.

Eric, that looks like Pete Aguereberry's car in Death Valley. The second scene is marvellous (Magritte-esque ). You could invert it for an even more surreal feel.

You're right about the car, Rajan. Of course I transported it (via Photoshop) to somewhere a bit south of Death Valley, and I think the plaque ("...Nothing Happened") was actually in San Diego.

Yes, I think I'll try inverting the "Magritte."

Need some help here...am trying to create a galaxy for a space image. FWIW, I started with the orb and added blur/noise/twirl/puppet warp in various stages.
There are some tutorials out there but, I wasn't able to duplicate what they came up with.

Hi wmchauncey,

If I were doing that I'd not bother making my own galaxy. Instead, search for the Hubble Telescope sky photos. They have a huge assortment of them, most available in pretty high resolution versions. And the best part is that you can freely use them in your own creations. Perhaps they want a credit; you should check their website for specifics.

P.S. My third B&W "creation" has a hubble sky in the background. They also have lots of really neat galaxies.

very enamoured of your images. The colour scheme, while not one I have ever lent towards provides an overall cohesion to your images. These are images which inspire me to action and getting on with something is what I like to do.

PhotoShop defaults, though tweeked and layered by me, are where the color came from.

I like the dog/piano picture. It is a bit more nuanced than the other color photos.

Thank you, Bob. When I snapped that dog (on Vancouver Island), I knew I had to find a context for him. The painted piano (NYC) just seemed to fit.

I'm looking for more ones like the "existential" one, that have conflicting components that obviously aren't from the same scene, but that seem to interact in a rather surrealistic way.

I will post a couple more tomorrow.

My Lei
It's like this, it's an age thingy...I couldn't figure out how to bend the stems without breaking them.
Then Google told me that ya gotta snip the blooms and thread them on string and ya need lots of them.

From my point of view, Photoshop is a lot easier!
