Ben was right, but it's not the thinking that's the problem, it's the not thinking of fundamentalists that is the problem. Thinking stops where dogmas start. And it's not limited to religion ...

What happened was obviously 100% wrong. However there is a difference between the right to free speech and the right to offend? Fanatics don't like being targeted and not being rational means they will react to being lampooned. Unfortunately the French cartoonists have possibly went from free speech to offending. Difficult to differentiate. As stated by myself....the actions of the terrorists were 100% wrong.

The problem, as currenly evident in Germany and mid-West USA, is that the middle ground disappears and we drive the debate to the extremes.

The problem is not one particular religion. It may be all religions. But, more particularly, it is fundamentalism - irrespective of which religion or political belief that fundamentalism is attached to.

Fundamentalist Christianity is every bit as evil and dangerous as fundamentalist Islam. Extreme-right politics are as dangerous as extreme-left.

Today the imam of the mosk nearby the Charlie Hebdo office stated:
'God says whoever insults me does that out of ignorance...    if somebody feels insulted they can go to court"

Personally i would like to see that imams all over the world come together to unitedly condemn all terrorist actions that are carried out in the name of the Islam.

Fundamentalist Christianity is every bit as evil and dangerous as fundamentalist Islam.

You may not like fundamentalist Christians, but right now at least, that's a philosophical, and potentially dangerous element in western society, vs. the kinetic, 'currently killing thousands' danger posed by Islamism.
