With the latest update "8.1", you can now round trip to your favorite outside editor.
Just right click on the preview, "edit with" and a dialog will open that resembles a recipe. Pick your favorite outside editor like Silver Efex Pro, and C1 creates a variant in Tiff or Jpeg and opens said file in the outside editor.
Edit and save. Variant is automatically added to catalog.
You can also "open with" and you can open the Raw in an outside raw processor.
The "open with" function doesn't seem to auto populate the catalog like "edit with" but its still nice to have.
