C1Pro8 / Windows 8 seemingly endless "Saving...." dialog box on quit

When I close C1Pro8, Windows 8 with a 10K quantity catalog opened,  a dialog box pops up that says "Saving..." and it runs constantly for hours on end.  I let it run all night and it was still stuck on that screen.

What is causing this?  Any fix for it?
