Z310 not profiling matte media only
« on: December 07, 2014, 08:21:39 pm »

My Z3100 profiling is totally failing on all matte media like rag papers but works normally with all pk papers. I've put in another MK print head but that didn't fix it. Also fails the same way with the Mac driver.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I did install the latest version of Internet Explorer for what that's worth :-).

Could you be more specific?  Do you mean the profile scan fails to complete and will not create and install a profile?

Is the color center "synchronise paper prests" working and not grayed out?

Which version of windows and mac are you using?

I had this issue too, but never found a solution - possibly a firmware error in an aging printer. I went to a Z3200 so no problem with that yet...

The calibration procedure, not icc profiling, fails when calibrating matte media, but not glossy type media using pk ink.

I have no idea why. Like I said tried this from Windows 7, and Mac Lion, and from the printer's menu on the printer itself. It's all the same.

The target is printed as normal, and it looks totally normal, then the I1 reads the target as it normally does but when it gets to the end rather than saying calibration successful,  you get the error message, " calibration failed to complete, try starting it again".

So, the spectro is working fine as it calibrates the fiber gloss media or rc media and saves the calibration. The failure only comes with matte media. Bizarre. Probably some  bullshit HP firmware situation. I'll call them on Monday.

Yeah that sucks.

I lnow this will sound stupid, but have you tried powering down the printer, unplugging, wait a few minutes and replug restart?  At the same time, restart your computers and your lan stuff.

Sometimes that's all it takes, but who knows.

You could try updating the drivers on each machine, win 7 and mac.  Download the driver from here:

http://http://h20564.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=3737543

Choose your printer, then your OS, then download and run the driver utility.  Let the driver utility find you printer and install it.

Might work.  If you have to do a firmware upgrade it's no big deal.

I'd try the other things before calling HP - could be simple.  Calling HP is not.  LOL.

Good luck.
