Fall not shaping up here again way too much drought. But finding old shots from past trips is always fun.
Fall sunset at Sam's Throne taken with an IQ180 and 43mm Schneider lens. The 43mm was a great lens, loved the fact it was symmetrical, (did not really appreciate that until I started shifting the 32mm and 40mm Rodenstocks which have classic retrofocus distortion). The 43mm also did not have any issues flare which surprised me and made a great sun star.

Hi Joe:

Thanks, I only shot it in a exposure bracket. The IQ180 always had good highlight recovery for me, but the foreground was the problem. But a few brackets got it.

Looking back, the ND grad would have been a great idea for this shot as I could have kept the sky in check allowing for more shadows. The problem on this day was wind, which was blowing very heavy. So I had really push the 180 quite a bit.

Thanks. Maybe but it's a tough setting to find level in. that's a bend in the creek so the shore isn't straight. I based level on the dog and her reflection being plumb. It's at least pretty close.

I just finished a trip to the coast of Oregon. I had a specific project in mind that I was able to make some progress on. I wanted to create portraits of sea stacks that I could assemble into a panel of images. Ultimately, I wanted 9 total images of solo stacks. While I made some progress, the rain cut significantly into my shooting days. Unfortunately, I damaged my XF100 and was unable to shoot with it for the bulk of the trip. Fortunately, I had the Nikon 850 as my backup. Almost all of the solo stacks were shot with the 850. I will post some of the images shot with the 850 under the 850 thread. All of these images are drafts as they have had only some processing on my laptop but you get the idea.
