« on: November 13, 2014, 10:22:53 am »

Have a chance to buy a used Vacuseal 3646M-HS, anyone with any experience of the model/brand have any words of warning?
Thanks,
William.

Just one. Does this size suit your present and future needs? Do you have room in your studio for it? (Presses eat up a lot of floor space.) Ok, two then.     - Jim

Can certainly make room for it, particularly as the lid doubles as a work surface and the size is ideal, would accommodate 99% of my work. Was just wondering whether there are any particular weaknesses in that model to watch out for. One thing I notice is that the hot/pressure plate is aluminium as compared to glass on the Hotpress models.

I use mine for laminating mostly. No issues with the aluminum platen as far as that is concerned. I don't use the press for dry mounting due to substrate warpage concerns, though.
