This one shows that ambiguity can also add something to photos that aren't "street."
I think this would fit well in the "abstract" thread.

But since you are inviting critiques, I'll have to say that I'm not certain about the title. I'm undecided as to whether it would be improved with only three dots instead of four before the question mark.   ;D

You guys don't understand. I gave it four dots because this is good street photography. At least that's what the publishers of The World Atlas of Street Photography would claim. After all, I was on a street (or at least a walkway) when I shot it.

Now that you understand publishers usually choose book titles, shouldn't you correct your Amazon review which maligns the book authors?

Oh come on, Isaac. Don't tell me you're going to troll this thread too. The book authors deserve to be maligned because of the stupid title they stuck on the book. The book's not bad, but it's title is thoroughly, and I'd guess deliberately misleading. They were selling the thing with the misleading title. It's time for you either to read the book or shut up about it. You know nothing at all about the subject.

Now I get it, Russ. The fourth dot = street. I'll try to remember that.

So do my road tar photos get a fifth dot because they are really just photos of streets?   ;)

P.S. I love the "ignore" button for trolls. Every now and then I peek at what the troll has said out of curiosity, but so far I haven't seen anything interesting enough to make me want to revoke the "ignore" setting.

Your road tar pictures would fit nicely into The World Atlas of Street Photography, Eric. In fact, I can't think of a damn thing that wouldn't fit into The World Atlas of Street Photography.

I've never been able to find the Ignore button. I'm not even sure I'd want to use it. I see a pathetic troll, too broke to buy the book he wants to critique, probably handicapped, confined to his room where his whole life is trolling fora like LuLa. He can't get out and make photographs but wants to join in the excitement of creativity. The trolling responses make me sad, not angry, so I'd hate to use the Ignore button. There've been other trolls on LuLa who obviously needed "professional help," and probably would have warranted the use of the button. "dalethorn" comes to mind. I'm not sure we don't still have a few. If I run up against one of those again I'll go hunting for the button.

We head for Florida tomorrow morning early, so I'll pretty much be off LuLa for a bit more than a week. Maybe I can get a street shot or two on the way down.

Have a nice trip and enjoy. I'm sure that you'll come back with some street shots from Florida

As far as I know LuLa's ignore function only blocks personal messages but not public posts in the forum.

You maligned "The World Atlas of Street Photography" in this thread too.

Don't judge a book by it's title!

Russ,

You have a safe trip...

Peter

Thanks, Peter. I hope to do that, but my wife and I are both getting tired of this double-swap each year. It takes away a couple weeks of useful time for each trip -- down and then back -- by the time you run through the pages of checklists and make sure you change all the addresses, stop and start newspaper subscriptions and telephones, gather all your stuff, close down the house, etc., etc., and then head down the road for days hoping you haven't forgotten anything important. This time we're going to find a permanent place in Florida and move there for good next year.

Do have a safe trip.
And I will also be looking forward to a flurry of excellent street shots from you. You can't let Seamus and Stamper and Harald have all the street fun.

Maybe we'll even get to see a [street] shot from Isaac???

Thanks, Slobodan. If I run into another "dalethorn" I'll use it.

In his brief membership, dalethorn added to the gaiety of life, Russ. I miss him, sometimes, in my more masochistic moments.

I hope you have arrived safely.

Jeremy
as long as there is sufficient ambiguity.  ;)
