matt paper which prints like baryte with inks on surface?

I am printing some graphic colourful images which have been manipulated into spot colours to look like screen prints. I like the way the 3880 inks sit on the surface with Canson baryte photgraphique - very artistic feeling - but I would like the paper itself to be more matt , something like bristol board or genuine screen printing Hot Pressed papers. Does anyone make such a paper? I am not sure what the coating is on photo ("gloss") papers I suspect gelatin or similar so maybe this itself is intrinsically glossy. I have tried several sample packs and all the matt papers just suck up the ink , which is making my bold colours too dull.

Have you looked at Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin? Hahnemühle considers it a "glossy" digital paper although it is printed with a matte black ink, but the unprinted areas do have a matte appearance.

Thanks Jay - I had missed that one , I have it in the photo/glossy trial pack.

A strange paper - looks matt, prints with MK (according to Hahne Mirage) but is a gloss paper.

It has quite a strong texture - more than photo rag etc. but does indeed have the dual surface effect of leaving the inks on the surface.

I have read some comments online where people are saying it is basically a unique paper in the way it looks and behaves. Could be just the ticket for me.

The FineArt Pearl and Photo Rag Pearl look nice too - time to try them all and not just focus on the Matt samplers.

I would suggest Photo Rag Pearl.
Photo Rag Satin has a tendency to blotch the shadow areas but works very well on high key/bright images. It is matte on unprinted areas and almost satin where inks are laid.
Photo Rag Pearl, on the other hand, is almost matte on unprinted areas and satin/pearl on the printed area.

do the same qualities exist between PRPearl and FAPearl?  I've used some FAPearl and really really like it.  Just wondering if the cellulose vs. rag base makes much difference (other than feel in hand)

The FA Pearl contains OBA's while the PR Pearl does not so unprinted areas are not as white.

If you buy these papers by the roll, the cotton rag based papers (PR Pearl) seem to relax or flatten a bit easier than do the alpha cellulose (FA Pearl) papers.

One of the biggest differences, as I see it between the Han PR Satin and the PR Pearl relates to the use of black inks: MK for the PR Satin and PK for the PR Pearl. If you have much detail in the dark areas of your image it will be lost with the MK Black which blocks up very quickly in the dark areas. In the unprinted areas, the PR Pearl has a smoother appearance while the PR Satin is more matte-like.

The PR papers have a more delicate surface than the FA papers, and it is my impression that the PR Satin is more delicate than PR Pearl, so the printed surface needs to be protected.

This is a fiber based paper, so it is in between RC and rag. But most fiber papers can be printed on the back and feel rag...ish. Got to test em, all different. Some are more fiber than rag and some are more rag than fiber. If you don't require matte, then tons of Baryta's out there.
