Shopping Cart and Database changeover
« on: November 23, 2005, 08:43:55 pm »

As you may be aware, the Luminous Landscape recently moved to a new server; as
part of this process, we are also changing shopping carts and the related
customer database. This change will occur within the next few days/weeks

This will mean that you will no longer be able to log in to review the status of
your subscription if your purchase was made before the switch-over. That information
will be available to you by sending an email request to Steven Sauve
<> who looks after Luminous Landscape Customer Service.

Please note that your previous personal information is still kept confidential
and secure. At no time is any Credit Card information stored by us. All that
information is held by our 'arm's length' credit card clearance house, Internet
Secure.

If and when you use the new Shopping Cart, you will have to create a new
account and re-enter your customer information. Our apologies for this but the
importation of the old customer data was hugely problematic due to the
encryption of your original password and the different encryption used by the
new shopping cart's database. We hope you will understand.

Chris,

Just to make sure I understand, I assume that our current LLVJ subscriber status is preserved?  That is, we will continue to receive the VJ and be renewed until we choose to stop.

Thanks,

Paul

Of course our admin changes have no effect whatsoever on your subscription status!

The practicalities of automatic renewals mean that for most people - esp. those who neglect to give Steven Sauve updated credit card information  ,-   subscriptions will expire when a renewal is attempted automatically by Internet Secure against an expired credit card!
However if the card information is still current at the shipment of the last issue of a subscription, an automatic renewal will go through within a few weeks of the shipment of that last issue.
However, we will in the future be relying more on email contact to notify subscribers of an expired subscription than on Internet Secure's 'automatic' re-billing.

Well, the new shopping cart is now live.

Give it a look, kick the tires, and let us know what you think.

There is, as one addition, far more detailed information about the contents of each of the Single Issues.

Customers will now also have the choice of shipment by Canada Post, UPS (N.America only) or FedEx.

If you are thinking about giving the LLVJ or Michael's Bangladesh book as a gift to someone else, you can now store up to five different shipping addresses within your account information.

Give us your comments

OK, Chris, now for the obvious question...

For those of us in the States that would like to upgrade from snailmail to something faster (Fedex?) on an existing mid-term subscription, can anything be done to support this long-awaited shipping improvement?

Bob

Check out the cost of a FedEx shipped DVD on the shopping cart and tell me if you really want to pay an extra $20.95 per DVD shipped
I don't think you will really pay an extra $84 for the fast shipping!

UPS is a bargain at $10.95 per DVD shipped  but that still takes a 4 Issue subscription cost to a total of $133.75 (instead of your current subscriber rate of $69.95)

And thank you for getting me my book several days before BlasR.

That makes up for him getting the Video Journal before me.

Yes, the book is great.

Sorry I misspelled my question.... I wanted to know where you live. I've also ordered the book but it has yet to land in my mailbox.

Thanks for the info. I guess I must be patient about my book order. I've not seen any European reader reporting that the book arrived...
