Doug and Gazwas--believe it or not, I've been working with C1 since Version 6 was new and diligently managed to learn nothing about sessions (or catalogs)--it just seemed easier to keep my head in the sand as I was getting the output I needed by dragging my processed tifs to my external HD and keeping my raw images on a separate HD. I suppose I was in one big session, but your comments were exceedingly helpful and thanks again.
As I understand what you've told me, I can create a session for each client or shoot or project, etc., naming the file and either shoot to the file on my laptop(desktop) and then migrate the entire 'Capture" file to my main computer, or if shooting with CFCard, open a new session for the file which everything automatically goes into. I could then leave the full session filed by it's assigned session name on my HD and also drag it to a separate BU hard drive to archive--correct?
Can it be as simple s that or did I miss something?
