Most of my images in Capture NX2 show a separation of the red and blue lines in the White Balance selection tool in Capture NX2. Example: I get an eyedropper reading of Red=1.08 and Blue=0.94.
My thinking is that ideally the Red and Blue should both be 1.00 if the camera was tuned right for the light source. Correct?
I can go into the camera's menu and Auto White Balance there and change the Amber-Blue and the Green-Magenta in the coordinate boxes. I put in a "A3" and "0" and now in Capture NX2 I set a Red=1.01 and Blue=0.99 which is better. The Kelvin also seems to have gone up a bit in ACR as well by maybe 200K.
Is this how it's supposed to be done? Nikon says to use Live View for calibrating Auto White Balance, but I doubt if the LCD screen on the camera back is that calibrated to do so.
Tia.
