A very interesting shot with that amazing blue.

It reminds me of my foggy memory, from decades back, that there are 4 (IIRC) forms of ice, differentiated by the pressure that set them.

Nature is amazing, what a beautiful colour. I prefer #1, as the "diamond" is given more prominence. In #2, there are many things going on at the same time: the wave washing on the sand, the wave breaking in the distance, all very nice elements, but together, they distract me from the blue.

Thank you, gentlemen.  One issue is that the richness of the blue is killed by the conversion from ProPhoto to sRGB colourspace.

Rajan,

When you set up your ProPhoto workspace did you also set up your convert to profile as I am showing here?

Well, that eliminates one possibility. I had problems especially with blue translations until I made that discovery. Still, it is a fine shot.

Rajan, did you use a grad filter on this?  Curiosity.  I'm thinking the sky would look more detailed with a stronger grad, but the shot is amazing don't get me wrong.  Right place, right time, great contrast, nice composure with the wave of white.  Looks like a gem washed ashore.

No filters were used.  All shots were taken handheld.  It is a rough, dynamic, windy environment and I had to be nimble on my feet.  I did not want a replay of what happened to me in 2010 there.

Spectacular, the opalescence of the beached "diamond" is stunning.
