Future Sigma Merrill availability
« on: July 26, 2014, 06:43:17 pm »

Hi,

from experience how long will there be unused Merrill cameras, batteries etc. available? I'm using my DP2M quite often and am wondering if i should start piling spare batteries, a replacement viewfinder, maybe a replacement DP2M? For example several European Amazon's sites are out of stock already...

Please advise,
Thanks!

Purchase a SAC-5 adapter and a Type-H USB to DC cable. This will allow you to connect your DP2M to an external power battery pack or AC.

I just picked up a new DP3M from Adorama, I suspect they will be available for awhile. There are third party batteries, like ones from Wasabi, they work great on the DP3M. I guess it all comes down to how long the demand will be there, as to when they will stop production, at least for 3 party batteries. Since the last Merrill was release beginning of 2013 I suspect that Sigma should support it for at least a couple of years....
