Voigtlander 58mm/1.4 on D800 - Opinions?
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:45:06 pm »

Hi! I am considering to purchase this lens to use it on my D800, and also on my Fuji X-E2 as a portrait lens. How does it perform on the d800? Thanks in advance! Manuel

Don't have any images I can share, but it's sharp, nice bokeh with good control over CA. Nice tonality coatings don't bump contrast too much). Focus mechanics some of the best I've ever used. Very nice lens and come up used at nice prices. Worth a look.

Thanks Conner999! I used to own the pentax version of the lens. It's great news that its excellent optical quality is preserved on the larger image area of the d800!

I've used mine (M42 screwmount) a little on a Sony A7r, mainly just to see how well the two get along. They get along very well as it turns out. One thing I've noticed is that even far-corner image quality is surprisingly good wide open provided you focus (via EVF magnification) appropriately. Center performance wide open isn't far off that of the excellent Sony/Zeiss FE 55mm at f/1.8. Corner performance wide open doesn't compare quite so well but it's still in the same ballpark.
