Coneflower
« on: July 04, 2014, 07:56:44 pm »

I was wandering through my garden this afternoon when I spied this coneflower dappled in the afternoon sunlight. I'm not sure of the crop, but I captured the lighting at the moment. Please feel free to c&c.

Very nice image with soft colors and well chosen background. I like the framing and the distant flower.

At first glance it is a beautiful photo, and well done on the technical aspects.
But, I can't help seeing a flower that is chewed up and missing petals on the far side. To me it is very distracting and takes away the gorgeous composition, focus and colors you have captured.

I have to agree with the Dude here, although there are certainly times that a really chewed-up flower can make a stunning image.  Plus I see no aesthetic reason to have cropped out a chunk of the background flower.  To me, that really unbalances the composition.  FWIW, echinacea purpurea is one of my favorite flowers to photograph (or just to see,for that matter).

Nature can be messy.  Perfect flowers only exist in the Florist's Shop.  I like the image the way it is.
