Mavericks and 7880
« on: April 03, 2014, 01:03:18 pm »

I just received a notification for a free upgrade to Mavericks at the App Store. Is there anyone here with this combo? Any problems of any sort? I ask because I still have Snow Leopard running and I have zero issues with an Epson 4870 scanner and an Epson 7880 printer. all my plugins work fine too. In other words, there¡s nothing wrong with my system and usually moving to newer OS means limited advantages.
Please provide me with some advice and commentaries
Thanks
Eduardo

I made the upgrade so I could use Photoshop CS6, and I had to download and install a new printer driver, add the printer, etc. The only problem I've found has been that centering a print does not work as previously. The interface is also somewhat different. Why do they always want to change it?

I can live with the changes.

What you have should work under mavericks fine.

However, if you are upgrading from Snow Leopard you may run into issues that date back to when Lion was released.  Those who upgraded then typically have no issues when moving to 10.9, but many when they finally move away from Snow Leopard have some issues. You may need to do a complete uninstall and cleanup of your printing system to get rid of old stuff and even get rid of Apple supplied Epson drivers.

Wow, there's really no free lunch ever  :) . When you say getting rid of Apple supplied Epson drivers, do you mean only installing those from the Epson site? Thanks Wayne, appreciated. Eduardo.

Yep - never use Apple supplied drivers for Epson large format printers.  Only use drivers from an Epson site.

Thanks for the advice. So I guess I won't have any trouble. That's just about how I've done it for years. Eduardo.
