canon imageprograf ipf8000s banding curiosity
« on: March 22, 2014, 11:43:01 am »

I have a banding problem printing some files with big areas of solid colors in plain, bond or coated paper, with fast (bidirectional) or standard (bidirectional) print driver settings.
But the banding is not the typical white stripe or dark stripe between passes, is in the varying saturation of the pass itself, inspecting the print with a big red solid area
across the full width of the 42" paper, appears the first band of "red" stronger on the left and a bit desaturated on the right, followed by the second band of "red" now saturated
on the right side and a bit faded on the left side, making a "lawnmower" effect in the print.
All this problem is fixed with unidirectional driver settings for fast or standard mode, or bidirectional high(600dpi).
But my question is why the printhead can produce a constant "red" across the full with of the media in unidirectional fast mode but not in bidirectional fast mode?
Is this normal behavior?
Can anybody with similars canon IPFs confirm this is the way they work?
Thanks.
