Medium format season is over
« on: March 04, 2014, 11:10:19 am »

All the excitment in my soul of three new announcements: the P1 IQ250. The Hasselblad 50C and the Pentax 645DII is over now. Snif!
I think I had my expectations way too high. The CMOS sensor made me believe things were going to change but no. The P1 remains  beyond believe expensive. the Hasselblad seems to lack LV (?) and the Pentax (latest rumor) has been postponed for another year. It was only vaporware. Back to the holy grail of digital photography: the FF sensor.

Not that the delay surprises me, but where did you see/hear about Pentax not releasing in April 2014?  If the do delay, for a year, they might as well, just no release it at all.

Where is that Pentax rumor about the 645D II being delayed?  I couldn't find it.

It's a rumor of a rumor.  That's enough for me to panic and sell all my Pentax 645 lenses!

There should be a Leaf version now that Hasselblad announced their product at a much better price than P1, (especially if one counts the camera included with …the back).

Full frame cmos is the future. The iq250 gives us cause to hope it'll be here in not too long.

What makes U think that the 645D II is "delayed" when it never got an official ship date to start with? ;)

Cheers,
Bernard

Interesting post on getpdi. Seems Pentax is showing it at WPPI with the new zoom.

I read it at some rumor site. Unfortunately I can't locate it anymore. Perhaps the site owner realized that it was a too much of a crazy rumor even for that site. The rumor said that because Pentax decided to finally release a FF body, they had to pospone the plans for V.II.

That would be extremely surprising. If that sensor size is good enough for P1 to release a 35,000 US$ back, I would think most people would feel it is good enough for Pentax to release a full high spec camera body... ;)

Cheers,
Bernard

that 645d II delay rumor is old, and already discredited

Aha! I remember that: it was on  Pentax Forums some time _before_ the CP+ announcement of the 645D 2014 announcement, alleging that a Pentax Russia rep. said that a "FF" Pentax was coming soon and the 645D II had been delayed tip next year.  So that old rumor was obsoleted by Pentax's subsequent announcement that the 645D 2014 is coming this spring, and not announcing any FF camera.

Put it down to yet another blogger being seduced by the persistent dream of Pentax returning to the 36x24mm format.
