IPF6400 out of ink?
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:01:34 am »

I've had the 6400 for a few months now and I haven't seen the ink volume change. I've printed a lot (number of sheets and half a 50' roll of 24") but the ink levels are right where they were after installing them. I has been giving me the warning to have cartridges ready to replace since I installed the setup cartridges. I am operating under the assumption that I can NOT run this printer dry. I am assuming WILL stop and demand a cartridge change when it truly runs dry. It's just been printing so much, it's making me nervous.

How much is a lot? 20 sheets and half a 50' roll isn't much - not enough for the ink levels to go down. This printer has big ink cartridges - not like the tiny ones in consumer printers. Make sure you prints at least 1 or 2 8x10 prints every week! Most problems are due to under usage on these printers. Don't let it sit idle for a week, or longer.

That's right, it will stop printing at some point and require that you stick in another cartridge. You don't have to worry about damaging the printer.

Thanks, I just needed some reassurance. May not seem like much printing for some folks, but it is for me. I have nothing to compare to. My Pro 100 has gone through several cartridges now and I'm just about to try refilling for that printer.  The new cartridges for the 6400 are ready and waiting.

Oh cool, well I think you'll find that between the start tanks and you're extra set that you won't have to buy any cartridges for awhile! They are cheap but they do last a long time... Cheers.
