Santorini at night
« on: January 26, 2014, 09:05:32 pm »

I've had this image for a couple years and it has received a lot of accolades, but I really don't see its value.  It's actually a two-frame, stitched image taken from the deck of a cruise ship, handheld with my D800 and my AF 85mm f/1.4D.

Gee.  I'd hate to get a flat at the bottom of that hill and have to walk up.  Nice shot.

Thanks Alan.  Actually there is a cable car that runs in parallel to that donkey trail (and it is a donkey trail - especially hard at night to navigate through the donkey piles :) ).

Its about 1000 feet or so. If you wish, you can rent a mule to carry you up. There is also a funicular up, its barely visible to the left of the path.
Sharing the path with the mule's is not necessarily as bad as it sounds, as the path is cleared reasonably well.

When I visited Santorini, I chose the funicular up, but walked down, much easier than way. :D

It is really a nice shot.
