Rob, your images are perfect size for most monitors. But I have large 25 inch HP monitor and the thumbnails are very small indeed and quite frankly don't look that good. This is especially true of the more subtle bw-images.

JR

Ah, so they do appear to you initially as thumbnails; for me they open up at full size right away, and are not thumbnails (my own pics here, in LuLa) but some other poster's images do show initially as thumbnails, and I have to click 'em to blow them up to size. My monitor is a LaCie 319; that's a 19" diagonal.

My thumbs, you say don't look good: how are the full images of same on your monitor? Sometimes, when I upload to here from my website, if I switch back rapidly to my website, the shots look slightly different, but then that requires memory, even if over a brief period, so without side-by-side at once, I could be mistaken, and just working on expectations of differences... I think I did open up two windows to do that before, but doing it again still wouldn't solve anything if there is indeed a problem.

No wonder I loved the world of film! I understood it way better.

How does one stop these irritating 'faces' from popping up unbid? I wanted to write three of these: ? but it won't fly that way.

Rob, either put spaces in between ? ? ? or tick "Do not use smileys" in "Attachments and other options." On the other hand, if you have to ask a question three times, it is either time to go back to school or visit an ear doctor  :P :P :P

A no doubt useful response, but I'm not sure whether it is sufficiently abstract for this thread.   :D ? ? ?

Ice and a blade of grass. Not abstract indeed, but macro images of natural objects are often much more concrete than abstract, in the hegelian sense of the two terms (more or less).

I like it, especially the central part.

Eric, Diego, Rob... I find myself musing if time passing while poking around in the abstract, isn't (for me at least), seeking to see outside an old skin waiting too long to slough off...taking a chance on a (life) line to no certain destination seems to whisper "just jump!"

Thank you.
And Diego, I am still enjoying watching you stay open enough to experiment with that which you find yourself near...keep it up! Almost child like unconditional curiosity and experiment is indeed to be celebrated.

Thanks - hadn't realised about spacing the characters. Neither, about ticking in Attachments as I wasn't making any. Guess my logic fails, too. ;-(

Regression to school: no thanks! It's taken my decades to slip gingerly (if tentatively) away from being a teen; just this morning, in the shower, I was mumbling couplets in an attempt to write the next Neil Sedaka hit; I got as far as this:

I'm not a whore, anymore
Not like before;

this, followed with a rhyme about teen and clean and freedom, but I've forgotten it now. Perhaps in the morning, when the conditions (with luck) are the same, it'll come back to me. This always works: I often find myself standing in the kitchen and wondering what the hell I went there to do. The answer, I found, is to go back where I started, and then I almost instantly discover why I went to the kitchen. It generally involves another cup of coffee.

But regarding my paean to teen: I remember realising that it was possibly applicable to photography, too. That made me laugh aloud.

Yep, a hearing specialist might come in helpful too; I have noticed that watching the rare tv show that I do, the scripts often sound confusing. This could be the result of everything people say, today, starting with 'so' or 'like' but I can't be certain.

Troubled times indeed.

That only works about half the time for me.   :(
Sometimes I can't even remember where I started, so I don't know where to go back to.

Anyway, jumping isn't a game plan: I am anything but a religious person, having been estranged from that by early forced exposure to missionary zealotry. But, and this is key: I believe firmly that life is a gift. Consequently, to throw that gift back into the face of whence it came is an insult, the very thing that will negate the possibility of reunition (neologism?) with my wife. I won't run that risk, ever! If I'm mistaken I shall never know, but if I am correct... hallelujah!

;-)

Rob
Amen to that, Rob!

Quote Rob:I won't run that risk, ever!

If she were Jasper Johns she would be able to notate well enough that her intent of Take that Risk, as in "it is not a cloud", as in "just take the leap!" though the destination be not promised or clear...I did entire heartedly intend life affirming...should have tipped one to you first before the attempt to elucidate...
