Thank you, Arlen. My wife was into chemistry and worked as an analytical one for a brief period before she married me; as she did so so young, and the first child appeared promptly on schedule (quite whose schedule was never explained - nine months from the wedding seems sort of fast) her career didn't go very far! Which suited me just fine, being the selfish sonofab that I can sometimes be. I always maintained that she was needed more at home.

All children in playgrounds are empty: comes with the territory and age. (Crisis humour; forgive and forget.)

At first glance, the picture reminded me of those old wooden forms that grandmothers once used to stick into socks in order better to darn the heels. I never saw holes in socks other than at the heels; we were a sophisticated family and always trimmed our toenails. I wonder where all those clippings go after they get dumped into the waste bin? Does the secret service collect them and analyse them and build up a genetic file on everyone? Today, to avoid that, I dump them straight into the garden where I believe they feed the wolf spiders that I sometimes bump into by mistake. Perhaps they pose less risk than using the official bins?

I was nearing home on my walk during a light, on-and-off light drizzle, resigned to not getting anything today, when what came into my eye, this piece of wet and dry art work. Maybe I will play with it and make even more abstract.
