Many, many scenes in one frame.
Frightening, chaotic, but ordered.

I'm not sure what you are abstracting the reality from in that photograph. To my eye it's no more abstract than my palm tree although I feel I refined my two elements down to their essential underlying elements of curve and shape.

But I'm not getting into any detailed discussion as it quickly reduces to discussing how many angels can dance on the head of pin  ;D

A lovely image is a lovely image. That's enough for me.

Wish I could make the show, Eric, but I'm gonna miss it. Congratulations in advance.
Indeed, congratulations Eric! And If I was anywhere close to Boston, I would be sure to visit.

Interestingly, I won't get a chance to see my own show for another month (it is being hung today.)

During my dialysis treatment last Friday, there came a phone call to inform me that I needed to get to Mass General Hospital in Boston as soon as possible, because they had a kidney for me! I have been waiting over five years for one, but never really expected to get one.

The operation was successfully carried out Friday evening and I was sent home yesterday. Now I have a raft of new medications to take every day (anti-rejection, ant-infection, anti-viral, etc.) many of which will be long-term. Right now I am on "house arrest" at home for a month (except for weekly visits to the clinic), while the new kidney and my system learn to coexist.

So my wife delivered the prints this morning and a good friend (photographer) is hanging the show for me.

My show runs through April, so I will get a chance to see it in a month.

I am, of course, jubilant to have finally gotten my transplant.

Thank you Rob, Chuck and John!

while I'm on "house arrest" for about a month, it's good to be able to keep up with friends on LuLa even if I can't get out with camera yet.

It's going very well so far.

Best, Eric

This building is supposed to represent a giant pencil or artist's box. What you see here is some of its columns and the underside. It certainly is eye-catching.

I like your last two, John. They're abstract but there's a reality there with which the viewer can connect. Abstracts don't have to be fuzzy.

I agree. (But sometimes fuzzy works, too. Especially when John tries it.)

Here I was thinking that an Artist's Box should have paint dripping from the edge.
But it's a nice semi-abstract.

Thanks Russ and Eric. You guys should look it up. It is the Ontario College of Arts building and has won many international architecture awards. What you don't see from my image is how the building actually looks. The checkered white area is actually the floor of the building and the building itself is a box on columns. Very unusual and it really has the feel of inviting people as they go to and fro right under the building.

Thank goodness the sun does not affect these pipes. Was on my walk happy as can be with my point and shoot camera. Took a few images and after a while realized the camera info screen was flashing something at me. What it could be? What, no card...nooo... Cell phone to the rescue. You know the one I never give a second thought to.

Thanks Russ. I know where you are coming from. I will save the ICM's for Eric, who shall no doubt prevail in his recovery. His LuLa persona sure is cheerful for such a tough personal situation.

I have started my daily walks again. I always manage to get at least one good image most days. Shadow play.

Good shooting, John.

Yeah, I've started my morning walks again too, but for now I pretty much have to confine them to the river. Just unloaded this morning's shoot. We'll see if I can claim what you can claim.

Well, here's at least a shot at an abstract.
