Oh my, so much cryptic and mysterious images lately. Well, I can add some rhythm.

And for the curious, here are two of the three images that I printed on the wrong side of the paper. One of these two ended up like the one I posted ( I repeat that to make it easy to compare.)

Any guesses as to which of these was the intended image?  The way the ink flowed while drying makes it very hard to be sure. I have no idea myself.

Whatever you did, it worked out well. I particularly like Bullough's Pond.

Very nice. I would have been tempted to post it in the Landscape Showcase section.

Good one, Rab. That's called "seeing."

Thank you, Arlen.
That one will be in an exhibit I am having in March at the Brookline, MA, Senior Center.

Thanks Russ and Arlen
Actually I thought of putting it on Landscape Showcase but I was curious about opinions  :)

Hi, Rab,

I think it works  in both places. Yes, the subject is clear, so it's "landscape." But it's more about the lovely pattern, so it's "abstract."

Either way, I like it.

If you look carefully, maybe you'll spy a "cave drawing" of an ancient ungulate standing on a hillside.

I really like the color palette, Arlen. Is this really a cave? Had to look up ungulate and have to say it be-hooves me to learn such unusual words.

Well if it helps someone learn something, then I guess it serves a useful purpose.  :)
It's not a cave, but the ungulate that my mind's eye sees within the right part of the frame reminds me of a cave drawing. The pattern is actually a small part of the surface of a large candy cane-shaped vent from some underground structure, that someone went to the trouble to paint with multiple colors.

You always find such interesting patterns on your walks, John.
Taking a page from your playbook, my "cave drawing" image was also from a walk about.

To think I don't even play!

Sadly, though, it shows how limited photographers are when compared with painters: we get stuck with what's there.

Interesting observation, Rob. OTOH, I have read and seen many reviewers on the net and in articles say that limiting your tools, or using small set of tools enables them to better focus on subjects they can never have thought of doing without those limitations. Such as when we choose to do a project using only one lens, or exploring only one area, etc.

Was just about to erase my card when I spotted this abstract which I had forgotten about. From my walk the other day.

That's a beaut. I don't recall seeing that one before Eric.
