That one has charm!
Thanks Eric. Yes I thought it was charming and whimsical until I gave it a bw treatment. Amazing how bw can alter the look and feel of an image literally and figuratively. Looks a little menacing, now, I think.

Nah, for me it be the color one. The lego colorscheme seems to really support the quirkiness.

I can't decide. I like them both, but the feeling is very different.

Not for this puppy: the b/w conversion is just dead when you compare with the vibrancy of the colour shot. Not all originals are created equal.

IMO.

And another where the PP isn't quite right - it was a very dull, overcast day in Italy. Sigh

I ran out of "real abstracts", if that matters anymore. So here is one whose subject matter is obvious, but I think has quirky abstractness to it.

Mike, I think I know what you are after, but if the light is not suitable, not much you can do. The composition is good. I am guessing you want more contrasty light to accentuate the elements. Most of my images are like that- you get what you get when you are there. The resulting images may not be great, but they help in keeping our visual sense sharp...if only the light was better... if only the light was better...

For some reason Rob, I can picture you dancing in similar light with a rose your mouth, tapping and stamping your feet, right to the end.

Actually, I have been trying to master the Moonwalk.

It is very simple and even an idiot can do it. The problem is, if you are not an idiot, it is very hard to ignore reality and attempt to counter and pervert the rules of physics of forward motion and bodily equilibrium. I am sure that had I been allowed to continue art classes in school rather than doing physics and chemistry I would, by now, have that pesky walk down to the level that I could just do a quick couple of seconds of it where I think it might get some applause, rather than find myself still practising it out on the terrace, checking my lack of progress in the french windows.

The rose I leave for the Mexicans; never seen a Spanish chick do that! But hey, flamenco's not my thing.

Lines that meet the sky. More abstractions from my local mall.

This isn't abstract but will feel at home here.

It's more design than subject, so it fits just fine.

It looks good to me Mike. Bold intersecting lines with just enough irregularity to give it some tension.
