More from "patchwork." This one has white areas that are like a tear in the fabric of colour.

You are a magician, John.
With your earlier motion-effect images, I could figure out pretty esily how you did them.
(And when I tried swinging the camera myself, I learned how hard it can be to get the desired result.)
But with these recent shots I have no idea how you do them. But they are quite beautiful!

In the alleyways of Graffiti in downtown Toronto, you can find much more. The walk alone is worth the trip.

I especially like the first image. Nice movement of intersecting lines just interrupted by the small circles.

Dear josh and company. I'm getting sick of having to type in the verification letters and math answers every time I post, make a change, etc.

Two beauties, Morris!
Interesting movement. I like the second, so much frenetic energy.

Left the white arc in, as I think it contributes to overall arc-movement.

I agree, the arc makes the image...

Is there a name for this style of image, John?  I agree with the others - they are quite beautiful.

I’ll try:  “gestural photography”.

I see a nice series, JR! Perhaps a portfolio?

Here's another from my Dancing Waters of Burano, Italia.

Thanks Peter M and Larry for your comments and interest. At this point, I have only my website to view my work, here: https://johnroias.smugmug.com/Camera-Impressions/ and here: https://johnroias.smugmug.com/Abstracts/  Some are repeated.

I would call this type of photography, impressionistic and abstract, based on in-camera-motion (ICM) techniques. Some I do with multiple exposures, but they are much more difficult to do successfully. With this ICM technique you can make subjects appear totally abstract, or for want of better term, semi-abstract and impressionist. I came to this technique after obtaining my first digital camera in late 2007 and into 2008 and experimenting with camera movement. About five years ago I discovered the ICM work of Michael Orton. Yes, the same person known for popularizing the Orton technique. Orton's work has inspired me to look at the smaller world and to look for patterns in subjects, or even to create patterns by using ICM. Rather than explain how I do these, I will refer you to Michael Orton's video. After you view his video, you will see why I call him a master of this technique.
