Of course it is recognizable, but it is somewhat abstract.

JR

I like it a lot, John. It actually hits the exact right balance between abstract and recognisable, and it's precisely therefore that I believe it should be considered a very successful abstraction. It has a nice graphical quality to it, so one can imagine more than a city nightscape, e.g. a graph timeline of all activity in the city or something odd like that.

By recognisable, i mean recognisable as a city nightscape, not necessarily which particular city, although for those people living there and recognising it as their hometown, it might just give another dimension to it and I'm sure this would be a potential seller for a postersize print aimed at the hipster crowd.

Of course, not everyone is from Toronto.

HA!  ROFL.  You've justified one of Canada's greatest in-jokes. :) :) :)

Nice image, too. :)

Thanks Peter. It's true. When travelling in Canada and asked where I am from, I never say Toronto. Etobicoke. If people then ask, where is that, I mumble as quietly as possible, Ter...an...a.

Thanks Oscar. I came across the image while culling my stock, which I suppose is more fuel for those who advocate, save everything!

Alternatively, you could just send me all your discards and let me pick the best 90% of them.   ;)

P.S. I've never been in T*r*nt*, except for one airplane change at the airport, which required something like a six-mile hike to get to the next plane.

Yesterday I went to a butterfly conservatory. Didn't get much in the way of butterflies (rejects!), but I did get some great abstracts. The first is about the mysterious light and dark, but the second is the same radiating fire I posted on chain thread.

This is strictly speaking a bodyscape, but it is both abstract and landscapy, I think.

Again no butterflies, but did get this "true" abstract.
