Another (re)view of DxO Optics Pro V9.1

I've used DxO for many years as an adjunct to my 'normal' RAW processing and it's helped quite often in some of my commercial work, shot under less than optimal lighting conditions (I'm in the UK ;-)

I've actually written up notes for every major version (since even before it worked on RAW files) and am pleased that it still offers the potential for sufficiently different processing from my 'day to day' use of ACR in Photoshop.

Very much written from the POV of my own use... so definitely not a detailed pixel by pixel comparison with other converters ;-)

PS I should note that in the past, I've helped test some versions of DxO Optics Pro, and they did have some of my sample images on their web site - I've no business connection with the company.

Keith, I read it and got a bit of chuckle on this line:  "There are aspects, such as printing I'm just not going to use. Not because they don't work..."

With version 9.0 and 9.1 the chances are "it doesn't work" at all. Hasn't for a few years now, even with version 8, printing to my 3880.  Does work with Canon printers though.

I agree with the better processing of noise in PRIME.  Might be the best out there now too.  Their lens correction data is pretty nice too.

I would say it is in a class of its own since they have a full matrix at all apertures and focusing distances with a local correction engine measuring not just distorsion but also blur and CA.
