Interesting post and pictures by Roger Cicala at lensrentals.com, about their experience so far...

Not bashing the A7R or anything, I just found it interesting....

A rental customer sneezing on a sensor?! There's genius in action...

Two facts got my attention: (1) only with the A7R not the A7, despite a roughly equal number of rentals (2) all the renters who returned the sensor scratched acknowledged having wet-cleaned the sensor.

The leads me to speculate that the damage was due to IQOCs(*) who clean the sensor every darn time they change lenses.

Interesting, but I'm willing to believe it's just user abuse until told otherwise.

Despite a lot of lens changes with my A7 I've only had a few tiny dust spots and both were sorted with the camera clean or a rocket and I've not had to wet clean yet.

My 5D on the other hand needed a wet clean just about every time I used it, even if I didn't change lenses.
