Anna's Hummingbird
« on: January 07, 2014, 10:54:45 am »

A common bird in my Sacramento County (California) yard:

Main light was sun filtered through a redwood tree on the left, secondary light was a barn-sized reflector on the right.  Equipment: Leica R8/DMR, Leica 280mm f/4 APO-Telyt-R.  Thanks for looking, all comments are welcome.

Thanks! It amazes me how they can hold their head perfectly still while everything else is vibrating at 60 Hz.

Wonderful focus. My attempts at manual focus on birds with a 50D are in no danger of appearing here, or anywhere.

Well done!  Anna's are daily visitors to the feeder we have mounted on our kitchen window.

There used to be a guy on Flickr who did a lot of hummingbirds with a custom four-flash setup, but he's been gone for a couple of years now.
