7900 banding
« on: December 12, 2013, 04:23:26 pm »

I have a friend with banding in the direction of head travel with her 7900. Nozzles good, alignment done, paper feed, platen, thickness, all that has been tried. Shows with ABW and color, 1440 and 2880.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Had that happen with my 7600 and haven't seen it since.

Check the platen gap (somewhere in the printer set-up dialog) and make sure it's set right for the paper you are using.

For my 7600, it was a matter of slowing it down to unidirectional printing.

well this is a new one on me ... she decided to not believe the nozzle tests, which were perfect, and do pairs cleanings on the blacks anyway... and the banding is gone...  I've never experienced that with my 9900.. or any of the many older models I've owned. Anyway, I wanted the solution posted here in case anybody else comes looking with the same problem.

Hi Tyler,

I've actually experienced the banding on my 9900 with a clean nozzle check.  It is a rare occurrence, but it can happen.  Regular clean and the banding is gone.  Only happened to me a couple of times.  Go figure.  Otherwise, it's pretty rare that I get a single clog at all.  My 9900 (knock on wood) has performed flawlessly without any issues.

Despite a clean nozzle check, my 9900 does occasionally have a clog and striping that starts in the middle of a print. Right now, it's probably caused by several of my carts coming to the end of their ink.
