99 Cent Store
« on: December 09, 2013, 12:02:11 pm »

Usual LR adjustments, plus mask rightmost awning in PS and decrease brightness and increase saturation on it a tad.  I wish I could have moved left just a tad so the street light was a little more to the right of the signage....

Beautiful!

You might want to work a bit more on the rightmost awning, however, to bring the hue and saturation closer to the rest. It also seems that the two fruit displays are different in saturation and contrast. If you are adventurous enough, you could relatively easily clone out the "Reshape" flag and get an even cleaner look.

Thanks, Solobodan.  The rightmost awning was both more weather faded and a little washed out by sun glare (also affecting the veggie picture on the right). I'll have to fiddle a bit to see if I can bring the color out more without it going totally wierd.  One thing I have done in the past is that might work here is to copy the mask of the right hand awning in the existing brightness and saturation layers and put it over a solid color layer eyedroppered from one of the other awnings and adjust opacity to add some pure color to the rightmost awning.  But cloning out the flag is a step over the line for the documentarian in me, I'm afraid.   :)

I understand. That's why I said "If you are adventurous enough".

However, once unleashed into the world, to the unrelated public like me, with no ties to the locale, the image loses its documentary role and becomes a beautiful, graphic abstraction... or pure esthetics... or fine art. A beauty in the mundane. For which the little flag, there temporarily anyway, is definitely not a major or even important component. But then again, it is your image and your intention, so I'll shut up :)

Whoa, now you're really tempting me to dump the flag.  Get thee behind me....   ;D

Funny what people choose to 'fix'. I think a sun-faded awning would add to the picture. But then I'd remove whatever it is on the roof line.
