Vesturhorn

One of my favourite Iceland locations.  It is s easy to find nice compositions to compliment the mountain.

I love the dark foreground with the rock and volcanic sand. The contrast between the dark f/g and the colorful background is very pleasing and almost magical. This is Iceland after all!

Might be great for Photography but you wouldn't catch me there on a bet.

Too cold ! I'm a warm weather person.

Actually, Iceland is not that cold but it's certainly not the Southwest…  :D

There are worse things than cold, like heat for example. ;D  People always say, "Well, it's a dry heat."  So is fire, it's a dry heat, but it's hard to escape.  You can dress for the cold.

Different strokes for different folks.

I prefer hot to cold.

In Iceland, you can get both at the same time even near Reykjavik (Blue Lagoon is amazing in winter)!  :D

Yes.

And if you step outside the thermal area you freeze to death.

That's what Yellowstone in Winter is like for the Bison.

Thanks.

I'll pass.

You go for me. I'll stick to the Southwest or the Tropics.

I like warmth but I'll tolerate some cold for a shot like that one!

Head to Yellowstone in Winter if you like that sort of thing.

Better bring thermal underwear though and a flask.

Good luck.

This is a very fine shot and composition.
Definitely worth taking a bit of uncomfort.
One could of course wait until high noon when the sun is directly above and warmer ....  :o

This is an amazing photo, full of interesting details, colours, and tones. Very rich in content. The only thing I feel is that the puddle could be fully included in the framing?

Believe me, I would have if I could have.  But in a way I like the way it isn't.

Did you also try cropping to a letterbox format, starting from where the water meets the right hand side?

When it's cold, you can put on more clothing. When it's too hot, you can take off all your clothing, but then you risk arrest. Take off all your clothing when it's too cold, you risk death by indecent exposure. Your choice.

Magnificent and as much as I dislike the cold, I'd go there for that shot in an instant.
