Vesturhorn Sunset from Stokksnes
« on: November 18, 2013, 12:36:12 pm »

"Batman Mountain" in southeast Iceland.  More in my blog post.  (Some weeks ago Kevin Raber had posted a b&w panorama image, "Stokksnes," that showed the entire range in very different conditions.)

That's a beaut. Very nice.

Indeed.
Nit: I could wish for a little more black sand below that fabulous foreground.

True. The puddle on the bottom seems a little crowded... but a beautiful scene regardless.

Very nice light and reflection. I too wish for a little bit more room for the puddle, and also for the mountain on the left.

It's a fantastic location and your composition is interesting.  I feel it would be better if the pool disapeared out of the right side of the image, but you can't choose these things.  Personally, I think the white contrast is a little too strong on the mountain.  But the light is fabulous.

Sweet light. It feels a bit cramped on the top.

Thank you, all, for the comments & criticism.  I worked the scene in a number of little ways but chose to show only one composition for now.  So, I do have compositions with more breathing room in the foreground etc.  The pool/puddle was actually a sheet of ice.

Tony, the next morning was squally and Stokksnes looked like an entirely different world from the evening before.  The tide was moving in quickly when we shot the sunset and we had to keep an eye out.
