Very well done! Composition is excellent. Curved jetties are rarely seen in this contest.

A voice of dissent - somewhat, at least. I think the image overall is great - the B&W treatment, the composition and the curve of the pier... but the completely featureless... not even sure what to call it... water feature has been way overdone lately.  Too much, even of a good thing, leaves me flat.  I'd rather see some actual sense of movement, even if it's just a hint.  This thread I think does it very nicely: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=83957.msg

I strongly disagree.

In general I'd agree many images have overly "milked" water and the movement
of the water is destroyed.
So often its a bad thing.

But not in this case.

The image gets an abstract note from the milk which works very well with the strong composition.
This is not a naturalistic image.

Its a piece of abstract art in a melange with the content - a pier.

Very well done !

I love it. Although I've never been a great fan of milky or fuzzy waters, in this case it works. It might also be because it reminds me the Blue Lagoon in Iceland?

As a usually non-milky-water photographer I have to agree that the milkiness works in this one. It adds to the feeling of loneliness, which is a strength of the image.

Yes, the effect is often overdone, but here I feel it is good.

It's a good thing everyone gets to have an opinion!  My choice doesn't affect yours at all!!

I like the curved structure of the pier.
