I know it's cliche but...
« on: November 03, 2013, 06:18:01 pm »

I wonder how many shots exactly like this has been shot over the years. I've even shot ones like this myself. That's why I almost didn't take this one. This is just where I happened to stop to have lunch. I snapped a shot on my iPhone while I ate my sandwich. It looked surprisingly good so I got my tripod out. I like the results but it's really nothing special. I probably wouldn't have even remembered the scene had I not shot it.

So my question is, even if it is cliche, when it's sitting right in front of you, do you take the shot? Or do you leave it in the bag on principle?

Nice shot, just a little too low res to enjoy.

Listen...I was told war photos are cliché. When war photos are cliché...everything that has ever been shot is cliché.

You tell me what is not cliché when it comes to freezing time?

Just shoot it and worry later.

Listen to the little voice inside that says "make the shot, dummy." You'll never be sorry. I often go back to my out-takes and discover gold.

After all the money spent on gear, gas, meals, and time put into getting there, yes, indeed, shoot.

(Emphasis added.)

(Modified to what I meant to say.  Yikes.)

This is no better advice.
