Its been a while
« on: September 15, 2013, 11:29:19 pm »

I think since I was last on this forum. Life kind of got busy.. I setup a new website ( www.rjd.co.nz ) and have a bunch of cool photo related things going on ( exhibition opening Thursday, things in print, workshops and images for a 37meter wide screen..).

So here are a few recent shots to get me back into the swing of posting on here. Hope you like them, any comments welcomed.

First a B&W (unusual for me) of the Lake Wanaka tree, a very flat light but calm morning at the lake, tree full of shags (cormorants). This is a fair crop from a much larger pano, 5dmkII 24tse.

This is a shot from before a seascape workshop, very early (5:30am or so) just before the sun came up. Samyang 14mm f5.6 ISO 100.

Lake Alexandrina at sunrise in June. On a trip with a bunch of other photographers. 24mm ts-e mkII. I processed this about 8 times before I was happy with the feel, which ended up being quite a heavy treatment.

Hooker Valley and Mt Cook. I love vertical panoramics , I love the slice of view and printed large they really draw you in. Not so great on monitors. 24mm tse

Lake Tekapo , recently got silver in the epson pano awards and placed 30th overall (my second highest placed image).

Thanks for looking!

The first and last ones are especially pleasing to my eyes.

The first image is a beauty. Very lyrical.

The first is wonderful. The second makes me feel uncomfortable: the blurring of the clouds adds an impression of movement to a static scene and doesn't work. I like the rest, but it's the first that stands out.

What wonderful images. The first one is beautiful. I also like the vertical pano very much.

These absolutely beg to be seen on black screen...I like some of the others shown on flickr.

I love it where it's appropriate, such as in #4. To me, it just looks wrong in #2, but it's your shot!
