First try in infrared landscape
« on: September 11, 2013, 04:28:32 pm »

I just got my first infrared filter, a Hoya R72. Here are my first two shots. And C&C welcome.

Interesting photos. I think I prefer #1, not sure if the cool blue toning of #2 adds much to the scene.

I like the first one - I clicked to view larger on Flicker and my suggestion is to clean up the brush in the foreground (before you shoot).  I often find I have stray branches or stuff growing which detracts from the view and I try to cut it down or yank it out before I take the shot.  Yes, you could PS it out in a pinch, I prefer to avoid that.

The other observation is the foreground grass is not in focus and that doesn't seem to be in balance with the rest of the image which is sharp and clean.  It also may be the wind blowing creating more blur.  Not sure.

I am not a fan of the blue one, the colour doesn't seem to evoke a mood that works (for me) but it could be personal taste.

My vote is also for the first one (B&W, not blue).
