So, a drop from $1050 to ... wait for it ... $1050?
I wish you luck. The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 can be had new for about $900 and is, by all the accounts I have seen, a better lens. I appreciate that you paid a bundle for your Nikkor, but life moves on.
Peter, thank you so much for the sarcasm and disingenuous well wishes. <Ahem> Just a fyi, there
are some individuals who prefer Nikon brand lenses due to numerous reasons, such as bad experiences with QC of 3rd party lenses made by companies such as Sigma, Tamron, etc....thus the phrase "good copy". One online reviewer of the Sigma 35 f1.4, for example, mentioned needing 3 copies of the lens before getting a "good copy". *I* don't find that appealing nor does it inspire buying confidence.
Additionally, less flare than the Sigma with Nikon's nano coating and AFS manual override on the Nikon which the Sigma lacks. No doubt, the Sigma is a very good value, but let's not get carried away.
I modified the original post to reflect the new price to save those interested in needing to read beyond the first post. I dropped the price >$100. Pretty simple actually...no need to "wait for it" ... Peter.
