Lighting Setup Database
« on: August 16, 2013, 11:53:32 am »

I have a ton of jpegs and videos along with text descriptions of photographer's lighting setups I've collected for some years and I was wondering if there would be an easy way to create a database in the likes of strobox website but just for personal use. The easy options seems to be end user Applications like Filemaker or Access but I don't want to commit myself to a software I will have to be paying for all my life just for this small task. Looking into open source, everybody talks about mysql but it looks so much programmer's oriented....

So what I'm asking is this: Is there any kind of GUI for mysql in the likes of filemaker that I could use without going into programming? I just don't want to get stuck with another proprietary format like photoshop PSD where I have to keep paying the rent every month.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You might want to look into content management systems like Drupal or Joomla.

Studio light setup documenting app:

https://itunes.apple.com/app/photo-studio-light-setup/id733677629

Or just search for 'Studio Light Setup' at app store.
