Merrill bodies for Northern LIghts photos?

Will the DP1 and others do well for 15 second to 1 minute exposures for Northern Lights and night sky images?

Prefer lower ISO settings when I can get away with them but at times have to use 400 or 800 ISO settings - and occasionally 1600.

Will the wider lens bodies work for this type of photo?
