Topaz users: Do you find that DeNoise gives better results than what is available in LR4 or CS6? How does it compare with Nik DFine 2? Is the Topaz InFocus deconvolution program worthwhile?
I've been using Topaz deNoise in CS5 and more recently in CS6 with no problems. I have not compared it (other than the interface) to other plug-ins, but find the interface makes it easier to get good results without too much messing around in PS (I use ACR or Aperture for my RAW import, not LR). Nearly every adjustment in deNoise has sliders, and you can save presets derived from their very useful range of default settings.
One thing that I really needed recently was NR that plays well with both the Bayer filtered sensor on the OMD and the Fuji XTrans on the X20, and this one fits that description. I get very little of the artifacts that you sometimes see from aggressive NR or sharpening with the X series cameras, although under exposure still seem to produce files with some "watercoloring" (just IMHO).
I really like the combination of Topaz deNoise plus Alien Skin Exposure color mapping, sharpening and grain, and Alien Skin Blow Up to adjust for larger print sizes without much futzing around.
